The World Tour of Receptions
We got engaged in February, 2020, wide-eyed and optimistic. Then followed the most insane procession of family health challenges steeped in COVID mania.We've emerged cut up and bloody, but looking good. We don't plan anymore: instead we flan ("faux-plan").For our 10-year anniversary we spontaneously (and privately) got married in Madrid. Now join us on the World Tour of Receptions as we flan our way around the world, celebrating with our people.

Chapter 0
It All Began In Colorado
It turns out couples are allowed to "self-officiate" their own weddings in the great state of Colorado. It's an old Gold Rush law allowing folks to tie the knot in a hurry. Being the private kind of people we are, we always fancied the idea of running off into the Rocky Mountains with a bottle of bubbly to do the deed. Especially during the pandemic, while we were staying with our dear friends in Steamboat Springs. Plus my grandparents eloped, establishing a clear precedent. We never pulled it off, but the seed was planted.
Chapter 1
Married in Madrid
Fast forward to June, 2022 and we decided to visit Madrid for our 10-year anniversary. By coincidence (AKA: cosmic divine intervention), our good friends from Colorado were there at the same time. Naturally we book an Airbnb near theirs and proceed to consume all of the wine and tapas. One thing leads to another and we realize there's no time like the present and we can have a small ceremony on our own terms.It all fell into place as Leah found a dress off the rack in a local boutique and I found a blazer nearby. But the kicker was having Stephanie (in black) join us. She was in Sardinia, Italy, and flew in to join us with zero notice.Jenn (in red) was instrumental in making this happen. She offered up their space as a venue, sourced flowers the morning of to make Leah's bouquet, scouted the photo location, borrowed champagne flutes from the bar across the road and officiated with a traditional Celtic hand-fasting ceremony. We are blessed to have her, the boss lady that she is.
Chapter 2
Official in Routt County
To go full circle, we made it official in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. This place is very special to us. We feel very lucky to be able to call this place home from time to time.

Sunny Perth Reception
The first reception will be in Perth, Western Australia.
